Artist Talk: Kerry James Marshall

Kerry James Marshall is back at his alma mater!  On March 29th. the remarkable painter held an “Artist Talk”  inside the Herb & Lani Alpert Recital Hall– a memorable moment at Los Angeles City College.

“I came to LACC to do my two years of study partly because it was a legendary place….Some of the best teachers in the world taught me at LACC…really consolidated what it meant to make things, be productive and to be knowledgeable of what you produce.”

His journey from humble beginnings in South Central to a 35-year retrospective at MOCA is an inspiration to our Art students and the entire LACC community. Look out for his alumni banner in front of Holmes Hall!

Kerry James Marshall is pictured with Steve Lebowitz, Foundation Executive Director Robert Schwartz, First Vice President of the Board of Trustees Sydney Kamlader-Dove, and President Martinez.
