Dean Hansell
Board member Dean Hansell is a partner of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, the firm he joined in 1986. He has served on a number of boards, and brings a depth and breadth of knowledge to the LACC Foundation. Hansell is an accomplished business, environmental and energy, and insurance trial lawyer. He is a former civil prosecutor in the antitrust, marketing practices, and the environmental and energy fields.
With his distinguished court record and as a former civil federal and state prosecutor, Mr. Hansell is called upon frequently to assist clients in connection with fraud litigation, investigations, regulatory proceedings, and administrative hearings. He is seasoned in alternative dispute resolution and serves on the Arbitration Committee of the U.S. Council for International Business. As an author, Mr. Hansell has written extensively for continuing legal education publications and has lectured on a number of legal topics.
Dean Hansell is not only dedicated to the law and his clients; he is committed to serving his community. He co-founded and serves on the board of Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD); he is a member of the Board of the California Bar Foundation; he is President of the Board of Information Technology Commissioners for Los Angeles; and is a current Information Technology Commissioner. His past board experience includes a position as Judge Pro Tem of the California Supreme Court; a membership on the Editorial Advisory Board for Los Angeles Lawyer; a Board of Directors membership for the Police Foundation of Los Angeles; a membership on the Editorial Board of International Reinsurance Dispute Reporter; and he served as a Police Commissioner for Los Angeles.
Mr. Hansell also has board experience in the realm of higher education. He is a member of the Denison University Board of Trustees and is on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the UCLA School of Public Health. He graduated cum laude from Denison University with a B.A. and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. His J.D. is from Northwestern University School of Law.
