Roberta Holt

Ex-officio LACC Foundation Board member Roberta Holt retired from Los Angeles City College in 2001 after a 35-year career at the College. Her first 25 years were spent as a member of the CAOT (Computer Applications/Office Technology) Department where she served as Chair for ten years. In 1991, she assumed the post of Coordinator of Staff and Organizational Development and spent the last ten years of her career in that position; she was also the Director of the Teaching-Learning Center during that period.

Ms. Holt became president of the Emeriti Association in 2004, when Dr. Lou Hilleary stepped down from that office. She is only the second president the organization has had since its founding in 1989. Ms. Holt states that one of the joys of being active with the organization has been working with the Emeriti Board, a dedicated group of emeriti without whom the organization would not exist.

Since retiring, Ms. Holt has volunteered at the Center for Healthy Aging in Santa Monica as a peer counselor, and she co-facilitates a women’s support group. In addition to her volunteer activities, Ms. Holt has been busy traveling. Destinations have included Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Peru, and Mexico. She loves cruising and spending time at her four timeshares as well. One of Ms. Holt’s most frequent stops is Seattle, where she visits her daughter, son-in-law, and her young grandson. Ms. Holt also has a married son who resides in Bellflower.
