Debbie Thaw
Deborah Thaw is the Executive Vice President of the National Notary Association, the nation’s largest professional Notary organization, located in Chatsworth. Prior to her elevation to this position, she held the office of Executive Director for nearly 23 years, the longest occupancy of that vital post in the organization's history. She has also served as Executive Director of the National Notary Foundation since 1997.
During her influential tenure with the NNA, Ms. Thaw has served in virtually every major management capacity, including leadership roles with the Association's editorial, public affairs, marketing, legislation, and customer relations departments. Strong operational and administrative skills enabled Ms. Thaw to engineer the transition the NNA's once-manual day-to-day operations into state-of-the-art electronic systems and processes, providing the Association with the technological capability to offer second-to-none service to Notaries worldwide.
Around the nation and globe, Ms. Thaw is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable and authoritative spokespersons and ambassadors for the American Notary office. Representing the NNA in nations as far-flung as China, Italy and the United Kingdom, she has acted as a liaison with numerous national Notary groups around the world on initiatives of mutual interest, and has worked closely with both the International Union of Latin Notariates and the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
Ms. Thaw is Executive Editor of the Association's member publications — notably, The National Notary magazine and the Notary Bulletin newspaper — and continues to write extensively in the notary field, including a regular column and interpretive pieces in the magazine.
Prior to joining the NNA, Ms. Thaw was a reporter and editor for newspapers in Pennsylvania and Los Angeles. She had also done work in radio broadcasting. Ms. Thaw earned B.A. Degrees in English and Journalism from Syracuse University.
