THE LOS ANGELES CITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION
ANNOUNCES THE 2008 SCHOLARSHIPS
The LOS ANGELES CITY COLLEGE
FOUNDATION is excited to announce the
scholarships for 2008—they anticipate this
year to be a record year in scholarship
availability. LACC Foundation’s mission is
to empower all students regardless of past
circumstances and economic realities to
achieve their educational goals. Whether
motivated by recreational, health or career
goals, LACCF strives to educate any and all
that desire to walk through their doors.
LACC provides educational opportunities and
career services to over 17, 000 students
ranging from late teens to seniors of any
ethnicity, culture and any country in the
world.
Five New Scholarships for 2008
Five new scholarships have been announced
for 2008 which include the Hollywood Chamber
of Commerce Community Foundation Book Grant,
the Johnny Grant Scholarship, named to honor
the late Johnny’s commitment to Hollywood
and his hope for the future; the Douglas
Blasdell Scholarship for LGBTQ & Straight
Allies; Health Sciences Scholarship for
Dental Tech, Radiology Tech and Nursing; and
the Jerry and Carol Goldsmith Music
Scholarship.. An additional eight funds and
LACCF’s general scholarship fund are also
available.
Applications available February 1, 2008
Applications will be available February 1
online at www.laccfoundation.org. They are
also available at the Foundation offices in
Bungalow B-3 and in the Financial Aid office
at LACC. Completed applications must be
returned to the LACC Foundation office no
later than April 1, 2008.
In 2007, 257 scholarships, book grants and
awards were distributed totaling $105,000
which provided over $100,000 in other
support for LACC programs and services to
the faculty, staff and students such as
Constitution Day, Athletic Programs, Theatre
Productions and sending our LACC Mathletes
to yet another championship in the American
Mathematical Association of Two-Year
Colleges competition.
Scholarships for 2008 have increased, and
this year will be an even more successful
year for the Foundation thanks in part to
the highly successful Fall 2007 Gala which
honored Los Angeles City Council President,
Eric Garcetti, Kaiser Permanente and
Outstanding Alumnus Jerry Goldsmith. The
Gala’s success was due in no small part to
co-chairs Laurie Goldman and Jerry Neuman as
well as sponsors Kaiser Permanente, Allen
Matkins, Apollo Molasky, GO! Goldman
Organization, Marni & Marv Hoffman,
Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo, The LACC
