President’s Scholars Program

Our Mission

Earning the designation of President’s Scholar is the highest honor a graduating high school senior can achieve upon entering Los Angeles City College as a freshman. The purpose of the program is for high achieving students to complete their 2-year transferable college courses debt free.

President’s Scholar Benefits 

The President’s Scholars scholarship includes full support for all academic-related needs including tuition for two years based on continuous full-time enrollment and agreed upon levels of academic performance. LACC Foundation will cover the greater of either tuition or *$500 upon successful completion of each semester with a 3.5 GPA or higher.

In addition to the scholarship, President’s Scholars will receive a laptop computer, campus parking or Metro GoPass, and admission to cultural events free of charge. They will be invited to an exclusive campus orientation and an annual reception with the college president. All President’s Scholars qualify to become members in the Ralph Bunche Scholars Program.

Applicants for President’s Scholars must be graduating high school seniors  who are California residents and attend Los Angeles City College feeder high schools. The minimum grade point average for consideration is 3.75. Applicants are required to complete an application for the President’s Scholar designation, write a one-page (approximately 600 words) personal statement, and include a letter of recommendation from their high school counselor. Applications are available at the Los Angeles City College Foundation office and online.

*If the student’s tuition is covered by the Promise program or any other financial assistance, Foundation will award $500 at the end of each successful semester of up to four semesters.
