Registered Nursing Program Celebrates its Ten-Year Anniversary

June 2014 marks the ten-year anniversary of the Los Angeles City College Registered Nursing Program. In all, 16 cohorts of students have graduated — adding 423 registered nurses to the health care community! Herb Alpert Foundation Gives $300,000 to LACC Music Department

The Herb Alpert Foundation has awarded a $300,000 grant to the Los Angeles City College Foundation to benefit the LACC Music Department. The funds will be used to support students and programs for the 2013-2015 academic years. The grant, from the Foundation created by seven-time, Grammy­‐winning musician and A&M Records co-founder, Herb Alpert, is the largest gift ever bestowed upon LACC’s Music Department and the first to provide support beyond financial aid. Los Angeles City Mayor Eric Garcetti joined the Los Angeles City College community to welcome Reneé D. Martinez, LACC’s 16th President, at a reception on September 26, 2013. Ms. Martinez is the first Latina to be named LACC’s President in the school’s 84-year history. Reneé D. Martinez was born and raised in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles.
