Become a VITA Volunteer in Spring 2022!

Want to serve the LA metro, gain professional experience and connections, and maybe make a few dollars?

What is VITA?

VITA stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and is a federal program that helps low-to-moderate income families file their taxes for free. VITA volunteers undergo extensive training to become certified tax preparers and work at local nonprofits and community centers to provide this essential service all over the country, including in LA!

In 2022, Los Angeles City College Foundation partnered up with United Way of Greater Los Angeles to train LACC students to become volunteers. Through this partnership Vita volunteers are learning the following:

  1. Virtual Training to become a VITA volunteer
  2. Technical support through virtual office hours from a skilled VITA site coordinator
  3. Connections to community organizations doing impactful work serving Angelenos
  4. $150 stipend for at least ten hours of volunteer service at a VITA site
  5. Transportation Assistance (Metro GO Pass or Gas Voucher)

VITA volunteering is a great experience for any career path, so students from all majors are encouraged to sign up.

How it’s going…
